A 19-member Awami League delegation led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sat with President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban in the capital over formation of the new Election Commission (EC) for the next general election in the country.
The AL delegation went to the Bangabhaban this afternoon.
During the meeting, they proposed for a new law over formation of the Election Commission.
The Awami League also proposed introducing e-voting in the next general election, says Roads Transports and Bridges Minister, Obaidul Quader, after coming out from the meeting on the day.
Over discussion on formation of the EC, President Abdul Hamid, however, initiated the formal talks with political parties in the country earlier.
He held talks with BNP first on December 18.
The tenure of the current Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad-led EC will be expired in February next.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, advisory council members Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed, Suranjit Sengupta, Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, HT Imam, Yusuf Hossain Humayun and Mohammad Jamir, Mohammad Nasim, Matia Chowdhury, Sahara Khatun, Syed Ashraful Islam and Joint General Secretaries Dipu Moni, Law Affairs Secretary Abdul Matin Khosru, Publication Secretary Hassan Mahmud and Law Ministry Anisul Huq are included in the meeting on the day.
