‘Attacker’ killed in RAB firing at Dhaka check post

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) gunned down a ‘bomb-carrying man’ who is reportedly trying to attack their check post in the city's Khilgaon area early Saturday.


Two members of the elite force were also injured in the attack which happened in Shekher Jaiga area around 4:45am, RAB-3 Commanding Officer (CO) Lt Col Tuhin Mohammad Masud said.


The man riding a motorcycle made the attack on the RAB-3 check post with explosives, he said adding that seeing the attacker, the RAB members opened fire on him, leaving him dead on the spot.


Meanwhile, a suspected suicide bomber on Friday noon blew himself up at the temporary RAB camp, proposed headquarters of the elite force, in Haji camp area of Dhaka’s Ashkona.


The Islamic State (IS) reportedly claimed responsibility for the suicide blast hours after the attack.
