Woman claims RAB check-post attacker as son
A woman claimed that the 'bomb-carrying man’, who tried to attack Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) check post in the city's Khilgaon area and gunned down by elite force, is her son.
Mosammad Amarun, 55, wife of Nurul Islam Hawladar of Sringuria village in Pirojpur's Bhandaria Thana made the claim on Saturday morning in front of the RAB's proposed headquarters in city.
Being informed, Airport Police Out-post in-charge SI Mostafizur Rahman took her to the thana and later, the RAB officer took her to their custody for interrogation.
Airport Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Nur-e-Azam Miah said the woman primarily stated that the 'attacker' is her youngest son carpenter Rafiqul Islam. He went missing for 4/5 days. She came to Sadarghat on Friday in search of her son and arrived at RAB office hearing the incident of Ashkona incident.
Duty officer (PSI) of Airport Thana Rozia Khatun said RAB investigation and Forensic Wing officer SI Rasheduzzaman filed a case on Friday accusing 7/8 unknown people.
A suspected suicide bomber on Friday noon blew himself up at the temporary RAB camp, proposed headquarters of the elite force, in Haji camp area of Dhaka’s Ashkona.
The Islamic State (IS) reportedly claimed responsibility for the suicide blast hours after the attack.
