Govt to report by May 7 on Padma Bridge misreprenters
The High Court (HC) directed the government to submit a progress report within May 7 about formation of an inquiry commission to identity the falsifiers of corruption regarding Padma Bridge project.
The HC bench of Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice Mohammad Ullah passed the order during hearing of a suo moto rule.
On February 15, the High Court issued the rule.
Cabinet secretary, Home Affairs Ministry secretary, police IG, Communication secretary and Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) chairman have to reply within two weeks.
Earlier, the court directed cabinet secretary to submit a report regarding inquiry commission within 30 days.
Deputy attorney general Taposh Kumar Biswas said the bench came up with the decision following the reports published in Daily Inqilab and some other newspapers.
