No 'sitting service' in Dhaka from today
'Sitting service', 'gate-lock' or 'special service' won't be operated as public transport in Dhaka city from today (Sunday).
On Saturday afternoon, the decision was taken from a meeting of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and Dhaka Sarak Paribahan Samity.
BRTA Chairman Mashiur Rahman and General Secretary of Dhaka Sarak Paribahan Samity Khandker Enayetullah told this to journalists after the meeting at BRTA office.
According to the decision of the meeting, all types of public transports including buses and minibuses will be operated in government fixed fare.
Stern action will be taken ageist those who will take extra fare while the public transports have to keep a clear chart of the fare with them.
Transport owners on April 4 announced that no public transport will operate in Dhaka city in the name of 'sitting service', 'gate-lock' or 'special service' from April 15.
