'Seating Service' to continue for 15 more days
Ongoing drives against 'sitting service', 'gate-lock' or 'special service' have been postponed for next 15 days.
Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Chairman Mashiur Rahman revealed the latest move at a press conference on Wednesday evening.
The decision was taken from a meeting between the BRTA and the bus owners at BRTA office in Dhaka's Elenbari amid sufferings of passengers facing a shortage of buses.
No action will be taken against 'seating service' for next 15 days but other drives of BRTA will be continued, Mashiur Rahman said adding the decision has been taken to cut the sufferings of the passengers.
The transport owners on April 4 announced that no public transport will operate in Dhaka city in the name of 'sitting service', 'gate-lock' or 'special service' after April 15.
As per the decision, operation of these services as public transport was stopped in Dhaka city from April 16.
