Karwanbazar part of Moghbazar-Mouchak flyover opened

The Karwanbazar part of the Moghbazar-Mouchak flyover has been inaugurated on Wednesday for traffic.


Local Government and Rural Development minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain opened the Moghbazar-Mouchak flyover's Hatirjheel-Sonargaon part on Wednesday morning.


Shortly after inauguration of the Karwanbazar part of the flyover, it has started operation for traffic.


The Karwanbazar loop is currently available only for one-way traffic, said authority of the flyover adding the part of the flyover can be used from Moghbazar-Sonargaon hotel through Hatirjheel taking the loop.


Susanta Kumar Paul, director of the project, said the length of the flyover of Karwanbazar part is 450m.


The Local Government Engineering Department implemented the project under the supervision of Local Government Division, he added.


Government of Bangladesh, Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) and OPEC Fund for International Development (OAPID) jointly financed the project.


Construction cost has earlier been fixed 13.50lakh for per miter, said sourced of the project.


Prime minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 2.55km length Mogbazar-Mouchak flyover for traffic from Tejgaon-Satrasta to HolyFamily road after completing 2.1km of it on March 30, this year.


In 2011, the project cost was Tk 772.70 crore which had been increased in 2016 by Tk1218.89 crore.
