Samakal Correspondent
Sirajganj's Shahjadpur municipality Mayor Halimul Haque Miru, the prime accused in Samakal's Shahjadpur Correspondent- Abdul Hakim Shimul- murder case, has been temporarily suspended from the mayoral post.

The LGRD ministry served a suspension order on Miru on Monday.

Miru, the Awami League’s Sirajganj District Organizing Secretary, was also temporarily suspended from the party earlier.

On February 5, police arrested Miru from capital’s Shyamoli area in connection with the murder of Shimul.

The Daily Samakal’s Shahjadpur Correspondent Abdul Hakim Shimul was shot during a factional clash between the supporters of ousted Shahjadpur Municipality Awami League president Abdur Rahim (VP Rahim) and the party unit's Organisational Secretary and Mayor Miru in Monirampur area of Sirajganj’s Shahjadpur on February 2.

Shimul succumbed to his injuries in the following day while being taken to Dhaka from Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College in Bogra for better treatment.
