Teesta, Dhorla Rivers cross danger mark

Due to incessant rainfall and the surge of upstream water in Lalmonirhat, the Teesta and Dhorla Rivers are flowing above the danger level.


As the flood situation in five upazilas was worsened further, the people in the districts have been suffering much since last couple of days.


Engineer Aminur Rashid of the Water Development Board said, the Teesta river is flowing 25 cm above their danger marks.


It may be increased by time, he also pointed.


Some of the areas in the district were inundated due to rise in water levels in the rivers while more than one lakh and fifty thousand people went under water.


Scores of families of these areas are passing days in great miseries as they need emergency supplies, according to sources.


The sources also said, the family assets were also washed away by the rise of the water level in the rivers.


The most affected areas are identified as- Dahgram, Burimari, Shrirampur, Patgram pourashava, Jongra union, Baura union, Hatirbandha, Singimari, Patikapara, Kakina, Vushavandar, Votmari, Rajpur, Kulaghat, Mogolghat, Sindurna, Tongvanga and others.
