'Shahjalal airport fire originated at Air India office'

The fire that was broken out at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday afternoon, had been originated at the Air India office.


A press release from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh has confirmed this on Saturday.


The Air India and Qatar Airways offices were damaged in the fire, the press release published today also said.


Earlier a three-member probe body has been formed over the fire incident at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.


Deputy Director (DD) Debashis Bardhon of Dhaka division fire service is leading the three-member probe committee to investigate Friday's fire.


One and half hours of their efforts, the fire fighters managed to douse the blaze at 3pm when the blaze was erupted in the area around 1.30pm. Ten firefighting units worked to douse the blaze.


Fire service control room sources said the fire broke out on the 1st floor of the main building of the airport.


No casualty, however, was reported from the incident.
